Mac vs. PC Ad

Apple, in its advertisement, "Accident," asserts that Macs think through every small detail when designing their products, while PCs do not. They support this assertion by showing an injured actor representing PCs, who had tripped on the charger of his laptop, as another actor representing Macs tells him that such an accident would never occur to a Mac user due to Apple's special magnetic charger. Apple's purpose is to persuade the American public into buying their laptops, by demonstrating that Apple's design is far superior to that of PCs. Apple establishes itself as a smart and reliable company to the casual American who simply wants a reliable laptop.

  1. Great precis! First, make sure to include the year that the ad was aired/created. Second, when you say "Macs think through every detail..." do you mean Macs themselves or the Apple company? Your second sentence is the one that I think could be worked on the most, trying to focus more on the persuasive techniques used rather than the specific details of the skit. Talk about which type of argument they used (pathos, ethos, logos) and explain how this is displayed and what effect it has. Lastly, I think that maybe their audience is even more specific than just someone who wants to buy a computer; they are reestablishing themselves as superior to current Apple users and are trying to persuade PC users to switch over to Macs. Good work!
